Cadillac Elks Lodge Raises Hundreds for Local Library

The Cadillac Elks Lodge raised $775, and gave it to the Wexford-Missaukee-Manistee Imagination Library.

The Imagination Library allows families with kids 5-years-old or younger to sign up to receive a free book every month.

Right now there are just about 2,000 members in the area.

The Elks Lodge donation will help the organization provide 30 kids with books for 5 years

A gift organizers say will kick start the children’s education.

“It’s important from birth to start reading to your kids to let them see you reading and to read together so we can get those grades up and be successful in kindergarten and beyond,” Niki Schultz, Wexford-Missauke-Manistee Great Start collaborative director said.L

“It’s important donate to our community we’re trying to give back basically. Community has been good us, the Elks, that’s one of their mottos is ‘elks care, elks share.’ That’s what we’ve tried to do with these donations,” Keith Ball with Cadillac Elks Lodge said.
