Nearly Three Dozen Fake Facebook Accounts Taken Down For Spreading Misinformation

With mid-term elections 14 weeks away, Facebook says they’ve taken down nearly three dozen fake accounts.

Those accounts were aimed at spreading misinformation and meddling in those elections.

They say those 32 pages they removed had nearly 300,000 followers and were created between March 2017 and May 2018.

Facebook couldn’t confirm if Russia was behind the fake accounts.

They say it’s still very early in the investigation.

In 2016, Facebook failed to stop bots created by the Russian Internet Research Agency which infiltrated the newsfeeds of thousands of Facebook users.
