Goodwill Inn Looking for Help to Meet Fundraising Goal
The Goodwill Inn in Traverse City is raising money to continue helping those seeking shelter there, and one local business wants to pitch in too.
In 2017, Goodwill was chosen as Hagerty Insurance’s nonprofit of the year.
Hagerty made a deal with Goodwill that if they could raise $1,000 for the inn this week that the classic vehicle insurance company would match it.
They say the help will have a direct effect on the community.
“We wouldn’t be able to have the Goodwill Inn if it wasn’t for great support of our community. People donate and people donate at the store. The stores actually help support the Inn, as well as direct donations to the Goodwill Inn. Either way we are happy to get the support. It really makes a big impact on our community,” said Dan Buron, executive director of Goodwill Industries of Northern Michigan.
Amy Johnson, Hagerty vice president of communications, said, “”It’s very impactful that our employees are really involved in the community on a day to day basis, and it’s really at the core of who we are that we want to serve all of the people around us.”
The Goodwill Inn currently has 90 people living at the shelter.
The inn has raised nearly $400 of the $1,000.
