UPDATE: Pere Marquette Highway in Mason Co. Reopens

Part of U.S. 31 in Mason County is now open after closing for hours for a three vehicle crash between a car, an asphalt truck and a UPS truck. 

The Mason County sheriff says South Pere Marquette Highway at U.S. 31 was shut down at 10:50 Tuesday morning because of the accident.

The Mason County sheriff says a man driving north in a car crossed the center line and hit a southbound asphalt truck head-on.

The crash caused the truck to overturn, spilling asphalt out onto the road.

A UPS truck was also driving south and tried to swerve to avoid the car, but slid into it and overturned.

The driver of the car was airlifted to a hospital in Grand Rapids.

The asphalt truck driver had non-life threatening injuries.

The UPS driver was not hurt.

Deputies are still investigating the crash.
