Plans to Improve Cadillac West Presented To The Community

The effort to improve the area known as the Cadillac West Corridor is moving forward.

Members of the community came together in May to discuss developmental changes that could improve Cadillac West’s M-115, M-55 corridor

A report on those potential changes was presented to the community Monday.

One of the big things discussed at the meeting was creating and repairing sidewalks, and taming traffic.

The study report done by the Alliance for Economic Success and Networks Northwest highlighted a new vision for Cadillac West.

The vision includes adding more navigational signs, and making the area more pedestrian friendly with more defined crosswalks.

The report also suggests redeveloping the shopping center on the intersection of M-55 and M-115.

All of these changes could potentially bring new people to the area.

“I think that doing a good plan like this the corridor plan could result in some good development and I know that there is a lot of good area to take advantage of. So I think if we can just get control of the traffic and the safety issues I think it will help all the businesses on this area,” Lisa Leedy, executive director for Alliance for Economic Success said.

The report also touched on potentially adding a round about at the M-115, Mackinaw Trail intersection to tame traffic.

To make any of these potential changes happen, they’ll need a planning commission and grant funding.
