A local author had an idea—tried to bat it away—and finally wrote and published it.

Author and Professor currently teaches at Baker College in Cadillac. She published “” in 2016, and her latest book, “” was inspired by a sermon.

She says she originally thought the story might not work with readers.

“At first I was really nervous because I didn’t know (if) people would want to read about David and the Princess Michal, because the bible does a great job, so what can I add to this?” She says. “But the thought wouldn’t go away, so I just (started) researching.”

Over four years ago she started researching and writing the idea, churning out the published version that it is today.

“The more I got immersed in the research, the more I just fell in love with the players of this,” she says.

The book is about one of the Bible’s most famous kings, David, in the years before he took the throne of Israel. It was when he served under King Saul when David met his first wife, Princess Michal.

“One lives in a palace; the other sleeps under the stars,” the synopsis says. “Though they come from vastly different worlds, Michal and David are drawn together.”

Broyles will be in Cadillac at Horizon’s Bookstore on September 8.
