DNR Officers Rescue Woman Trapped in Fishing Line in Manistee River

Two conservation officers rescued a Montague woman from the Manistee River.

They say they found her wrapped around a log, tangled in fishing line, her arm punctured by fish hooks.

The DNR says it happened earlier this month when Sam Koscinski and Scott Macneill were on marine patrol.

They noticed a distressed woman in fast-flowing water north of Tippy Dam.

They say Elisabeth Aldrige was trapped, being pulled by the current with her head barely above water.

The officers and Aldrige had to cut the fishing lines to get her on the boat.

Aldrige says “had the conservation officers not shown up when they did, who knows how long I would have rested on that log.”
