President Trump Threatens to Strip Security Clearances from Top Former Officials

President Trump says he’s considering stripping the security clearances for a handful of Obama-era national security officers who have been critical of his presidency.

That includes John Brennan, James Comey, James Clapper, Michael Flynn, Susan Rice and Andrew McCabe.

Senior government officials keep their clearances after they leave office to advise their successors.

But Senator Rand Paul a Republican from Kentucky has been calling on President Trump to revoke the security clearance for former CIA Director John Brennan.

After Brennan criticized the president’s recent meeting with Russian President Putin, calling it treasonous.

The White House says people who make baseless accusations against the president shouldn’t have security clearances.

However, of the six officials on the president’s list two no longer have security clearances anyway.

McCabe and Comey lost theirs when they were fired from the FBI.
