Harrietta Community Comes Together to Help Replace Fire Department Roof

Firefighters often worry about where water will come from, but it should not be from a leaky roof over their heads.

That was a problem for the Slagle Harrietta Fire Department in Wexford County, until now.

Donations and fundraisers the past year raised enough money to get the roof replaced.

The fire chief says he’s touched by the community support.

“We got a boot on the wall back here. We made our goal and we were able to pay for the new roof. We love it. It make us feel very wanted and needed around here,” Harrietta Fire Department Chief Roger Mier said.

The department will continue fundraising efforts with a pancake breakfast to kick off Harrietta’s blueberry festival on August 4.
