Two Apparent Shark Attacks On 2 Children Reported in New York

Beach-goers in New York are on edge after two apparent shark attacks on two children Wednesday.

The incidents forced officials to shut down two popular beaches off Long Island for the rest of the day.

The first suspected attack happened Wednesday morning.

A 13-year-old boy was pulled from the water after something attacked him.

Emergency responders say they pulled a tooth from his leg.

The tooth has been turned over to state officials to determine if it came from a shark.

The second attack happened shortly after, just five miles away.

Twelve-year-old Lola Pollina was enjoying the beach with her family when she felt something grab her leg.

If confirmed, these would be New York’s first shark attacks in more than six decades.
