Traverse City Rotary Loaning Money to Improve Availability of Housing, Childcare

Traverse City Rotary is putting half a million dollars towards projects that will tackle some of the region’s biggest problems.

The investment focuses on affordable housing and the lack of early child care.

Rotary is giving out a loan, rather than a traditional donation, to finance groups often overlooked when applying for capital.

It’s all part of rotary’s effort to supplement their donations with financial support of change-making organizations.

“A lot people come through our doors looking for support, there’s a shortage of housing options and childcare options in Northern Michigan. They’re problems that work better with a collaborative portion,” said Leah McCallum, Rotary Charities Traverse City.

Rotary’s application process is open until mid September, they’ll be giving out the money in December.
