Annual Garden Club Walk Hopes to Hearten Community’s Desire for Gardening

The Friendly Garden Club of Traverse City is hosting a walk aimed at informing people about the everyday upkeep of gardens and simply showing the beauty it produces.

From native plants to large vineyards, the walk will feature a little something for everyone.

The 36th Annual Garden Club Walk is being held Thursday, letting people stroll through five of the most beautiful gardens in Grand Traverse County.

They hope to share their love of flowers with the community and hope they can teach a thing or two at the same time, during their biggest fundraiser of the year.

“All of the money that we make on the Garden Walk is granted back into the community through scholarships,” said the president of the Garden Club, Susan Mrowczynski.

The walk offers a beautiful view of Grand Traverse and the native plants and pollinators you see make the experience worthwhile.

It’s not just for those who have experience in gardening but for those willing to learn and just enjoy the beauty of a garden in its growth.

“Our goal is to promote the beauty of nature and get everybody to be environmentally aware of things, the study, and love of gardening and sharing of plants, we like to do it all,” says Mrowczynski.

If you’re interested in participating in the walk, it begins at noon on Thursday, July 19.

Tickets are available at the Botanic Garden in Traverse City.
