Cherryland Humane Society Wins Grant From 100 Women Who Care
The 100 women Who Care met in Traverse City Wednesday night to decide which non-profit organization should get their $10, 000 donation.
Three non-profits were drawn from a hat and given the chance to pitch their case for why they need the money.
And in the end, Cherryland Humane Society earned it.
It comes just weeks after they took in 35 neglected dogs and cats from a home in Grand Traverse County.
Director Kristin Marinoff, with 100 Women Who Care, says it’s an honor to be able to help.
“We have an unbelievable amount of nonprofits in this area, a lot of little guys, a lot of big guys,” she says. “But the $10,000, regardless of how big or small the organization is, it’s a very quick and efficient way to raise money.”
The humane society says they plan to use the money to care for their new residents until they find permanent homes.
