Developing: Standoff Situation at Cherryland Mobile Home Park

Police took a man into custody after a standoff that lasted several hours in Grand Traverse County.

The standoff ended at about 6:20 at the Cherryland Mobile Home Park, which police evacuated earlier Tuesday afternoon.

Police have had part of Garfield Road near Maple Street in Garfield Township closed down since about one Tuesday afternoon.

The sheriff’s office was called about a man making suicidal statements at the mobile home park.

And after they got there and set up a perimeter, they say the man came out and pointed what looked like a hand gun at a deputy.

The deputy then shot once at the man, but the man said he wasn’t hit.

And around 6:20 p.m. the man came outside.

He’s been taken to the Grand Traverse County jail.

Police say no one was hurt and no one else was inside the home.

People who had to evacuate the mobile home park are now being allowed to return.
