Firefighter Killed Battling Wildfire Blazes in California

Dozens of wildfires are still burning in the western U.S. Monday morning.

Over the weekend, a firefighter lost his life battling the blaze.

Saturday morning, Braden Varney died while fighting the Ferguson fire south of Yosemite National Park.

He was operating a bulldozer, clearing trees and shrubs to create a fire-break in the Sierra National Forest.

Wildfires have burned more than 91,000 acres in California this year.

That’s 13 percent more than at this time last year.
