Michigan State Police: Human Remains Found Inside Burning Car in Mackinac Co.

Michigan State Police detectives in the Upper Peninsula are working to identify human remains found inside a burning car.

Detectives from the Michigan State Police St. Ignace Post were called to a car on fire on East Simmons Road in Mackinac County’s Marquette Township around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

After extinguishing the fire, troopers discovered the human remains.

Michigan State Police say dental records and/or DNA testing will be used to help identify the remains.

The cause of death and the fire are still under investigation.
