Traverse City Commissioners Reject Settlement Offer Over Tall Building Dispute
Traverse City commissoners voted to reject a settlement offer on a lawsuit over its tall building dispute.
Monday night at the city commissioners meeting, leaders made a motion not to discuss the lawsuit and rejected 326 Land Company’s settlement offer.
The company sued the city over its amendment to the city charter requiring a public vote on buildings more than 60 feet tall.
The company said it would drop the lawsuit if commissioners agreed they would vote on whether buildings up to 10 stories could go up in the Park Place Hotel block where 326 Land Company is slated to build its building.
Everywhere else voters would have a say.
Again, city leaders rejected that settlement offer.
