Mackinac Island Fundraiser Helps U.P. Victims of Flash Floods
Locals and visitors to Mackinac Island helped raise nearly $10,000 to help Michigan neighbors to the west ravaged by deadly flooding.
The Seabiscuit Cafe and Ice House BBQ held a special fundraiser on Sunday—where all the money raised goes to the Keweenaw Community Foundation.
One-hundred percent of that will be distributed to victims of the recent flash floods that washed away homes, buildings and roads in the western Upper Peninsula.
There was a silent auction, band, food and fun, with more than 150 people taking part.
The business owners and many employees have connections to people affected by the flooding, so they said they wanted to do all they could to help the people they consider family.
