There are so many opportunities to have fun at the National Cherry Festival, but there are also opportunities to give back—including by giving blood.

has had a trailer set up all week long, taking walk-ins for blood donations.

They say the high traffic with both visitors and locals make this a great way to recruit first-timers, who often turn into lifetime donors.

This week the air conditioning was a draw for some, especially yesterday.

“Just giving back knowing they are on vacation, they want to do something nice and they are able to save lives in their local community,” says Heather Dixon with Michigan Blood. “We are also giving away cool free t-shirts, so if you donate you get a cool t-shirt and you get the knowledge of knowing that you’re saving lives.”

Of course, if you can’t make it down to the NCF to donate, you can find a blood drive every day somewhere in Michigan.

Because the need is always there.
