Wildfires Prevent Fourth of July Celebrations in Parts of the West

Wildfire threats in several states out west have forced many popular Fourth of July fireworks shows to be canceled.

Firefighting helicopters flew into thick smoke battling the massive wildfire west of Sacramento, California that’s burned more than 80,000 acres.

Nearly 3,000 firefighters have been working around the clock trying to contain it.

The wildfire is threatening more than a thousand homes and buildings and hundreds of families have been told to evacuate.

A wildfire continues to rage in Colorado as well.

That fire is now larger than the city of Detroit and has destroyed more than 100 homes.

In Utah, people are being ordered to leave their homes as firefighters try to contain fast-moving flames east of Salt Lake City.
