Gordie Howe International Bridge to Be Built Over Detroit River, Connect to Canada

The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority has put together a team to build a new international bridge, connecting the U.S. and Canada.

The authority made the announcement Thursday, tapping a group called ‘Bridging North America’ to construct the Gordie Howe International Bridge.

It includes U.S., Canadian and international firms with infrastructure project experience.

A final contract is expected to be signed later this year to begin the process of building the bridge over the Detroit River between Detroit and Windsor.

It’s scheduled to open in 2020, giving access to vehicles and bicycles.

It’s not clear yet how much the Canadian-financed project will cost.
