President Orders Flags Be Lowered To Honor Maryland Newspaper Employees Killed in Shooting

President Trump has ordered all U.S. flags on federal property to be flown at half-staff to honor the five newspaper journalists killed last week in Maryland.

The order comes after the Annapolis mayor said the president had declined his request to lower the flags.

The White House says President Trump ordered the flags lowered as soon as he learned of the request.

Five Capital Gazette newspaper employees were killed last Thursday when a gunman shot them in the newsroom.

The man accused of the shooting had been holding a grudge against the newspaper.

Investigators believe that may have been the motive.
