15 Train Cars Carrying Freight Derail in Kalamazoo

A major commute obstacle in Kalamazoo Tuesday morning where police say 15 train cars carrying freight derailed.

The city’s department of public safety says it happened just before 7 a.m.

Some of the train cars were empty and investigators say there’s no evidence of hazardous materials being released.

No injuries have been reported.

It’s still not clear what caused the derailment to happen, but police say speed does not appear to be a factor.
