Severe Weather Knocks Thousands Out of Power in N. Michigan

Some severe weather passed through Northern Michigan on Sunday and has left thousands without power.

Many Northern Michigan counties were under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning as wind gusts reached up to 60 m.p.h.

The Mackinac Bridge is under a high wind warning.

We’ve gotten a report of trees and powerlines down in Kalkaska, Mason and Lake counties.

The majority of those out of power are Montcalm (2,288), Grand Traverse (1,803) and Otsego (1,013).

Among other counties affected: Alcona, Cheboygan, Charlevoix, Antrim, Leelanau, Benzie, Crawford, Isabella, Clare, Wexford, Missaukee, Roscommon, Osceola, Mecosta, Mason, Oceana, Newaygo, Arenac, Gladwin, Montmorency County, Presque Isle.

Power crews are working to restore the power now.
