Bikram Yoga Instructs at The National Cherry Festival

While there are plenty of opportunities to be unhealthy at the National Cherry Festival, there are also ways to stretch, strengthen and find your inner peace.

This is the second year that Bikram Yoga of Traverse City held a free, community yoga class at the Open Space.

More than 150 people showed up—from young to old, experienced and beginners.

Several instructors took turns leading the class.

Bikram Yoga Instructor Amy DeShano says it’s a wonderful way to bring a lot of people together and get their day started off right.

“It’s’ just a great opportunity to get family, friends together people from the community that maybe haven’t tried yoga before that are interested,” she says. “Any age, any fitness level can do it, which is great. A lot of people think you have to be fit to go to yoga, you have to be flexible to go to yoga, that’s so wrong. The message is that you come to yoga to get fit and to become flexible.”

Bikram Yoga offers free community classes every week on Wednesdays at 7:30.
