Labor Day Bridge Walk Participants Can Expect New Look in this Year’s Event

The Mackinac Bridge Authority will host a meeting on Wednesday about all the changes to this year’s Labor Day Bridge Walk.

The 61st annual event will have a different look this year.

Walkers can now start on either end of the bridge in either Mackinaw City or St. Ignace.

There will not be buses available to transport walkers back to their starting point so walkers should turn around at the halfway point.

For the second year in a row, the bridge will be shut down to drivers during the walk over safety concerns.

The Mackinac Bridge will be closed to traffic from 6:30 a.m. to noon on Labor Day.

The meeting will review all these changes and we will keep you updated if anything is overturned.

The meeting begins at 9 a.m. for Mackinac Island City Hall.
