Grand Traverse County Ratifies New Administrator’s Contract

Wednesday night, Grand Traverse County ratified the contract of its new administrator, Undersheriff Nate Alger.

Alger won the seat in a close decision against Thomas Hickner from Bay City a few weeks ago.

The seat had been vacant for months when the previous administrator left for family reasons. The selection process to fill it started with 90 candidates and Alger won following several rounds of interviews.

“I think what I’ve done to this point has prepared me for this opportunity,” said Alger. “I just look forward to expanding my services to the entire county.”

He will start his new role July 1, while the Sheriff’s office will be working to fill Alger’s position.
