17 States Sue Trump Admin. for Family Separation

The debate over the separation of migrant families at the Mexico border continues.

Now attorney general’s from 17 states and the District of Columbia are suing the Trump Administration.

The lawsuit claims separating families is “irrationally discriminatory” and violates the constitutional guarantee of equal protection because only people crossing the southwestern border are affected.

They also accuse the Trump Administration of violating constitutional due process because families are separated when the parents don’t appear to be a threat to the child.

The Trump Administration says this situation is a top priority but reuniting more than 2,000 kids with their parents will take time.
