Blue Angels Flying Back to Traverse City for National Cherry Festival

The Blue Angels are flying back to Traverse City this weekend for the National Cherry Festival.

Airplane No. 7 was in town Tuesday and awarded a ride to a special member of the community.

Brian Wheelock is the executive officer of the Young Marine Program, and a veteran. Tuesday he got the opportunity to fly in the Blue Angel plane.

We caught up with him before his ride.

“Pretty nervous, I’d be a fool not to seize the opportunity to,” said Brian. “My goal is to actually enjoy it. I’ll probably pass out and throw up and do everything else, but I really want to enjoy the flight.”

The Blue Angels will perform at the National Cherry Festival at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
