Putting Electric Vehicles to the Test in Traverse City

Drivers in Traverse City are getting a chance to take the wheel of some electric cars at the Michigan Clean Energy Conference & Expo on Saturday.

Nonprofit organization, Greater Lansing Area Clean Cities teamed up with the Midwest Evolve project to educate people on electric and hybrid cars.

Community members were able to put electric vehicles to the test by getting behind the wheel and taking the car for a spin.

Meanwhile, learning about the car’s environmental impact and alternative fuels.

The event is made to educate, but some walk away with a new ride too.

Greater Lansing Area Clean Cities coordinator Jeremy Orr said, “A couple test drove a Chevy Bolt 2018 and the next day they purchased that same vehicle. So that long term is what we like to see. It’s all about promoting these vehicles, providing the educational benefits and a lot of people do come here to make purchasing decisions and learn more about them,” said Orr.

Orr hopes offering these events will make people feel more comfortable purchasing an electric car.
