Parents will do anything to keep their kids safe, and a furniture store in Traverse City wants to help with something they might not even consider.
Mike Mahn is the owner of Golden Fowler Home Furnishings and he is now giving away free anchor kits to anyone who needs them.
Mahn explains how children everywhere are being injured by falling furniture because kids see their homes as a playground.
Or maybe their favorite toy is on a high shelf – and they use the shelf as a ladder.
“Tall pieces of furniture they can climb on them, they’re creative, they’ll figure out a way to climb on them so if we keep them from tipping, we’re going to keep the kids from getting hurt,” said Mahn. “It’s a real simple kit one side goes to the wall, one side goes to the piece of furniture ,it’s a strong nylon zip tie and you just zip and it’s done and it’s real simple anybody can do it.”
Golden Fowler has already been giving away these kits when someone buys furniture but now anyone can go in and pick one up completely free.
