The disaster is responsible for the death of a 12-year-old Houghton County boy.

He passed away Monday after flooding caused his home’s basement to collapse Sunday.

Governor Rick Snyder has declared a state of disaster for Houghton and Menominee counties.

That means the counties will have access to state money and personnel for the massive cleanup now underway

Many roads in the two counties are destroyed, with more than 40 deemed impassable.
