Environmentalists to Speak Out About Replacement Plans of Enbridge Line 5

Environmentalists will speak out Tuesday about the dangers of Enbridge Line 5, the controversial oil pipeline in the Straits of Mackinac.

Enbridge plans to release a report this week, at the request of Gov. Snyder, looking at the alternatives to the current pipeline.

They’re expected to support replacing it with a new pipeline in the Straits and surrounded by tunnels.

Various groups including “For Love of Water” & “The Straits of Mackinac Alliance” will address their concerns over that plan Tuesday.

They say there are significant legal and environmental risks of a tunnel project for the Great Lakes and Michigan’s economy.
