Road Closure in Grand Traverse County on Monday, Tuesday Due to Sink Hole

Drivers in Grand Traverse County might want to allow themselves extra time to get where they are going this Monday and Tuesday.

Grand Traverse County Road Commission says County 633 Road will be shut down from Miller Road to Hamlin and Youker Road.

According to road commission superintendent Tobin Javin, they will be replacing a culvert that created a sink hole over Memorial Day weekend.

Traffic will be detoured to take M-37.

“We really want to make sure there are no further issues with it and we don’t want the sink hole to be any larger than what it was initially. On Monday it was 10 inches in diameter and about a foot and a half deep but we don’t want it to continue, they basically start and end up with a funnel affect and they’ll get quite large,” said Javin.

The road is scheduled to be closed down starting at 6 a.m. on Monday and will be opened back up at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Residents adjoining the closure will have access to the road.
