TCAPS New Eastern Elementary School Building Almost Complete

Almost one year later and Eastern Elementary School in Traverse City is almost ready for students.

The school, originally built in the 50s, is now a state of the art facility.

On Thursday, the students from both Eastern Elementary and the Old Mission Peninsula School got in on the fun, decorating hard hats and seeing pictures of what their new school will look like.

Students at the school moved over to Bertha Vos while the building was completely reconstructed.

With room for 200 more students, this building has a completely new design.

“This building will provide a bit of an open concept,” said Biz Ruskowski. “In that students will be able to work in small groups right outside of their classrooms, there will be just some nice areas, some breakout space, just more room to learn and grow and play along the way.”

The school is on schedule to open their doors for next school year.
