Sears to Close 72 Unprofitable Stores

Sears is closing more stores after plunging sales and a first quarter loss.

The struggling retailer says it’s identified about 100 unprofitable stores, and plans on shutting down 72 of them.

The current retail environment is difficult for many stores, but Sears’ performance is much worse than its rivals.

Four of the stores are located in Michigan, one of which is in Traverse City.
