Plaques Display Unique History of Many Downtown Gaylord Buildings
A local rotary club is honoring local history with a special donation in downtown Gaylord.
The Rotary Club of Gaylord purchased bronze plaques that detail the historical background of various buildings.
With help from the Otsego County Historical Society they uncovered the background of some structures more than 100 years old.
New restaurants like Crave say the plaques are a great way to embrace the city’s history.
“I think it’s great, it gives people an opportunity to check out downtown, learn a little bit more about it, and this was an old hardware store before we ever got here. The history inside here is amazing,” Crave GM/Chef Ben Hammack, said.
There are now 10 plaques located on storefronts across downtown Gaylord.
