NFL Announces New National Anthem Policy

A major announcement from the NFL Wednesday.

All football players on the field are required to stand during the national anthem.

The NFL passed the new policy Wednesday aimed at addressing protests over the national anthem.

The policy says any player who chooses not to stand may stay in the locker room until the national anthem is over.

It also states that teams and not individual players, will be fined for any actions deemed disrespectful during the national anthem.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says the league wants to be respectful to the national anthem and its’ players.

“That’s something that we think we owe. We have been very sensitive in making sure that we give players choices, but we do believe that, that moment is an important moment,” said Goodell.

The commissioner also announced Wednesday that Super Bowl 57 will be played in Arizona and Super Bowl 58 will be in New Orleans.
