Bill Moves to Senate to Make Businesses A Part of DEQ Regulations
A bill in Lansing would bring private businesses into the Department of Environmental Quality’s rule-making process.
The bill passed the State House Tuesday and now is on its way to the Senate.
It would start an environmental rules committee with private industry representatives who would weigh in as on new DEQ regulations.
It would also start a permit appeal panel and board of scientific experts that will help advise.
Democrats criticized the bill, bringing up past disasters like the Flint water crisis.
