The Moving Wall Coming to Kalkaska County

A powerful and significant part of history is now back in Northern Michigan.

The Moving Wall, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is coming to Kalkaska County.

It will be open to the public at the Kalkaska County Fairgrounds following a special escort Thursday afternoon.

The Moving Wall will travel 32 miles with its escort before it arrives at the Kalkaska County Fairgrounds for a full weekend.

The Moving Wall is filled with over 58,000 names of soldiers who died fighting in the Vietnam War.

As part of Armed Forces Week, there will be several events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.

There will be displays, concerts by the 126th Army Band and high school bands, and speakers including Vietnam veteran Congressman Jack Bergman and several others.

The wall will be open all day and night starting Thursday at 8 p.m. It’s definitely something you won’t want to miss.
