US Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City Hits Beach for Annual Training
The U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City took to the beach for their annual training, but also to remind everyone to stay safe this time of year.
They did everything from land survival training and setting off flares, to actually getting in the water in dry suits.
They want to remind everyone to dress for the water temperature and not the air temperature, just like they do all year.
Always plan for that worst case scenario and always wear your life preserver, no matter what time of year it is.
“Dress for the water temperature in case you do end up in the water you would rather plan for that worst case scenario and not need as much protection then to not plan for that worst case scenario and find yourself in a bind when you’re in the water and you’re not prepared for it,” Lt. Erin Nolan said.
Their training helps save lives, but they want you to always be prepared.
