Sault Ste. Marie Students Celebrate City’s 350th Birthday With Special Photo

Hundreds of children gathered in Sault Ste. Marie Monday to take part in the city’s 350th birthday celebration.

This celebration lasts all year.

Over 800 elementary students from five schools lined up in Brady Park for a special picture.

The scene was to recreate a gathering from 1920 where young children posed for a picture.

The students have been learning about the history in the classroom. Monday was a way to get them outside and be a part of it.

“I think it’s very important to instill in our kids and our community the history and why we are who we are in our community,” said Mary Jo Duvall, Sault events.

There will be a number of events and celebrations throughout the summer in the Soo.
