Willow Mercantile in Cadillac Reminds People to Cover Plants

With the chilly temperatures on the way, Willow Mercantile in Cadillac says they are lucky enough to have a greenhouse.

But, they are warning gardeners that aren’t as equipped to bring in plants.

They say most shrubs are behind on budding already, and are susceptible to freezing temperatures.

They even say covering up plants that can’t be moved might not be enough.

“Cover, cover, cover, I mean whether you use bed sheets, towels, tarps, cardboard, whatever you have laying around and get things covered up. If temps drops down closer to 20 it’s going to be a hard freeze, and even covering is going to be questionable at that point,” co-owner of Willow Mercantile, Brian Johnson said.
