Two Killed After Plane Crashes in Sault Ste. Marie


“It turned and went right nose down into the ground,” said Roy Swanson, who witnessed what happened.

In tragic news out of Sault Ste. Marie, two people are dead after their plane crashed at Sanderson Field.

Fire officials tell us that the two people killed were men from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

The crash happened just after 10:00 Saturday morning, while the plane was taking off.

The plane was heading northwest when witnesses say they saw it go straight up, twist around and plummet back down.

Fire officials the Canadian men were the only two people on board the plane.

One witness we talked to said it all happened so fast.

“I saw one gentleman jump the fence and he ran to the plane and pulled the door open and turned, and just walked away,” said Swanson.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration will be taking over the investigation to find the cause of the crash.

Sanderson Field has been closed until further notice.
