20 Animals Adopted at Cherryland For Empty The Shelters Day
“We’ve done a pretty big dent in our population,” said Cherryland Humane Society’s operations manager Elizabeth Williams.
Hundreds of pets have their new forever homes after being adopted on Saturday.
66 shelters and rescue organizations across Michigan, including Cherryland Humane Society in Traverse City, took part in Bissell Pet Foundation’s “Empty the Shelters” day.
People who came into the humane society and adopted a cat or dog were rewarded with pet food, treats, toys and invaluable wellness information for their new family member.
The humane society says the event was a huge success and people adopted 20 pets as part of the special day.
“Oh it is so just amazing to watch these guys get to go home, just one right after the other,” said Williams. “Its crazy busy but it’s so worth it to watch 20 of them go home in a day.”
And while these little guys have their new homes, animals at shelters across Northern Michigan are still looking for owners.
