Missaukee Conservation District Looking for Help Cleaning the Muskegon River
Equipped with nearly $3,000 from a new grant, the Missaukee Conservation District is looking for volunteers to clean up the Muskegon River.
The grant is courtesy of the Michigan DEQ and Great Lakes Commission’s volunteer river, stream and creek cleanup.
To help with the cleanup, white birch canoe and cabin has offered to provide up to 20 canoes.
But volunteers can bring their own.
Volunteers will also have the chance at a free camp site at Reedsburg Dam.
The conservation district says it’s a win-win.
“Just anything and everything of course we pick up the wandering bottles and bags and all that stuff it just keeps our river cleaner, it’s healthier for all the animals that are in there and around there it keeps it pretty,” says Sherry Blaszak of the Missaukee Conservation District.
Cleanup on the river will take place June 23 at 9 a.m.
Crews will meet at Ben D. Jeff’s River Park.
