Dozens Walk Up And Down Cadillac Streets For Stomp Out Sexual Abuse Walk

Dozens of people walked up and down the streets in Cadillac Saturday, all to bring awareness to sexual abuse.

Healing Private Wounds and the Oasis Family Resource Center put on the walk, Stomp Out Sexual Abuse, as part of sexual assault awareness month.

Dozens of people from the organizations gathered in the Cadillac City Park and then walked through downtown, holding signs of awareness.

Healing Private Wounds Executive Director says this was a time to support survivors, and educate people that sexual abuse happens in the community.

She tells us this is a topic that needs to be discussed.

“The more we talk about it, the more we empower people and children to talk about it. That’s the only way. Children need to know and be free to talk about this topic because it affects so many and the consequences are devastating,” says Shirley Peterson, executive director of Healing Private Wounds.

Both organizations want everyone to know if you need help, please call them.
