TBAISD’s Career Tech Center Teaching Academy Receives National Recognition

A local intermediate school district is being recognized for its program preparing students for a career in teaching.

Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District Career Tech Center’s teacher academy takes 26 students from area schools, and lets them work with teachers and students in their home school for the two year program, giving them a leg up before graduating high-school.

Earlier this month, the program received the ‘Excellence in Action Award’ from Advance Career Technical Education in D.C.

“I think it speaks highly about the educators that we have within the ISD, specifically the career tech center in the types of program that the ISD is able to provide for students within our five county region,” says TBAISD Career Tech Center principal Patrick Lamb.

All program participants from the 2017-18 class graduated high school with 92 percent of them enrolled in post-secondary education.
