President Trump Contemplates Sanctions Against Russia
Top military officials are expected to brief congress on the airstrikes in Syria Tuesday.
It comes as President Trump is deciding whether to enforce new economic sanctions against Russia.
Russia is Syria’s main ally.
The Syrian government is believed to be behind the suspected chemical weapons attack that reportedly killed dozens of people.
Last week, President Trump insisted Russia would be held responsible for the actions of Syria, but then Monday he said he is not in favor of new sanctions.
Some members of the House Foreign Affairs committee are also blasting the president’s move saying it sends a message to governments around the world that they can support brutal behavior.
The White House says the president will make a decision about sanctions in the near future.
