Enbridge’s Line 5 Pipeline Resumes Function After 24 Hour Closure

Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline is back up and running after being closed down for more than 24 hours.

The company says they restored operation to the line that runs through the straits of Mackinac just after 3 p.m. on Monday.

The line was closed temporarily after a power outage and stayed closed due to the bad winter weather at the straits.

“We did have a power outage at our superior Wisconsin terminal yesterday and because of that we had to shut down Line 5 with some of the rough weather on the straits moving through, we just decided to go ahead and leave it shut down yesterday,” says Enbridge Spokesman Ryan Duffy.

Enbridge says the investigation into what caused recently-found damage on the pipeline remains ongoing.
